ICBC Counselling
ICBC Counselling in British Columbia
Were you recently in a Motor Vehicle accident.
Being in a car accident can shake more than just your physical health — it can impact your emotions, confidence, and sense of safety.
At Mind Matters Counselling, we provide ICBC-approved counselling to support your emotional and psychological recovery after a motor vehicle accident.
Our counsellors are trauma-informed and culturally attuned. We understand that healing after a collision often involves both mind and body — and we’re here to walk alongside you through every stage of that process.
What Is ICBC Counselling?
If you’ve been injured or affected by a car accident, ICBC covers up to 12 counselling sessions within the first 12 weeks following your accident date. These sessions are fully covered by ICBC — no out-of-pocket cost to you.
We handle the direct billing with ICBC, so you can focus on your recovery instead of paperwork.
If you still need support beyond your initial sessions, your counsellor can request additional sessions through ICBC on your behalf.
Individual counselling can be particularly beneficial in helping you navigate difficult emotional experiences such as depression, anxiety, and grief. It provides a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, gain insights into your patterns of thinking and behaviour, and learn practical strategies for managing your emotions and stressors. Through individual counselling, you can develop greater resilience, self-awareness, and a greater sense of control over your life.
How Counselling Can Help
Emotional healing after an accident is just as important as physical recovery. ICBC counselling can help you:
- Reduce anxiety, fear, or hypervigilance related to driving
- Process trauma and intrusive memories
- Improve sleep, concentration, and mood
- Rebuild your confidence and return to daily activities
Our Therapeutic Approach
Our counsellors integrate approaches such as:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for managing anxious or fearful thoughts
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to restore emotional balance and connection
- Somatic and Mind-Body Work to release stored trauma and tension
- Trauma-Informed and Culturally Sensitive Care tailored to your unique background and needs
We believe that trauma recovery happens best in an environment that feels safe, compassionate, and empowering.
