Our Clinical Approach to Trauma Recovery

We don’t just talk; we use proven clinical techniques to help your nervous system reset.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns that often develop after a motor vehicle accident, such as fear, self blame, or constant worry. By changing how you think, CBT supports emotional regulation, confidence, and safer driving related responses.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT focuses on emotional balance and coping skills. It helps manage intense emotions, panic reactions, and stress responses following trauma. Through mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation techniques, DBT supports stability and daily functioning.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy works with the body’s nervous system to release stored trauma. Instead of focusing only on thoughts, this approach helps you reconnect with physical sensations, reduce hypervigilance, and restore a sense of safety in your body after an accident.

In some cases, joint or family sessions may be beneficial, especially when the accident has impacted relationships. This can be discussed during your initial assessment with your counsellor.
You can begin counselling as soon as you have an ICBC claim number. Early intervention often helps reduce long term emotional and psychological impacts.
