Our Clinical Approach to Trauma Recovery

We don’t just talk; we use proven clinical techniques to help your nervous system reset.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns that often develop after a motor vehicle accident, such as fear, self blame, or constant worry. By changing how you think, CBT supports emotional regulation, confidence, and safer driving related responses.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT focuses on emotional balance and coping skills. It helps manage intense emotions, panic reactions, and stress responses following trauma. Through mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation techniques, DBT supports stability and daily functioning.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy works with the body’s nervous system to release stored trauma. Instead of focusing only on thoughts, this approach helps you reconnect with physical sensations, reduce hypervigilance, and restore a sense of safety in your body after an accident.

My experience with this therapist has been truly life-changing — not just for me, but for my entire family. From the beginning, they offered a space where we felt safe, respected, and truly supported. It wasn’t just about individual healing, but about helping us as a family grow stronger together. What makes them different is how deeply they care. They take time to understand each person, offer calm and clear guidance, and make sure no one feels left behind. Their support goes beyond the sessions — you feel they are truly with you, ready to walk alongside you no matter what you’re facing. They really truly cares about the situation!! Their dedication is personal, not just professional. They’ve helped us navigate emotional challenges, rebuild trust, and find direction again as a family. I trust them completely, and I know that if we ever need support again — whether in everyday life or with institutions or difficult situations — they will be there. We are deeply grateful. If you are looking for someone who will not only help you but stand with you, this is the person you can count on.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many ICBC counselling sessions am I entitled to?

At Mind Matters Counsellling, we bill ICBC at their standard rate. In most cases, there is no user fee or out-of-pocket cost for the client, provided the claim is active and within the 12-week window.
Yes. If your accident was more than 12 weeks ago, you can still access counselling. We will simply need to contact your ICBC claim adjuster to seek a brief authorization before we begin.
In some cases, joint or family sessions may be beneficial, especially when the accident has impacted relationships. This can be discussed during your initial assessment with your counsellor.
You can begin counselling as soon as you have an ICBC claim number. Early intervention often helps reduce long term emotional and psychological impacts.
